Frequently Asked Questions
TESTING WITH QURE
For potency, if you want to know the total THC and total CBD after decarboxylation, then you can book the basic potency test.
If you preserved the acid forms via a cold extraction method and would like to distinguish between THC and THC-A, and CBD and CBD-A, we recommend you choose the full potency test. This gives you the option to choose up to 3 cannabinoids (and their acid forms where relevant).
You can also do a cannabinoid profile if you are curious about all the cannabinoids we can test for.
Please note a 20% compounded product surcharge applies for sample types that are not pure Cannabis (ie. an infusion, tincture, edible, beverage, ointment, etc.).
The cost depends on which test you choose. Our pricing page lists every type of test with all its associated costs. All our prices include 15% VAT.

Yes, for liquid samples. A density measurement is required to convert the results from mg/g (presence per mass) to mg/ml (presence per volume). This can be booked as an add-on to our potency, cannabinoid, and terpene analyses.
Alternatively, the density measurement can be booked as a standalone test.
We have added Sceletium testing to our list of services.
We plan to expand our services to test for other alkaloids such as mescaline in cacti, psilocybin and/or psilocin in mushrooms. Enquire about your specific sample type.
On plant material, we offer testing for:
- Cannabinoids
- Terpenes
- Loss on drying (LOD), also known as moisture/water content
- Foreign matter
- Total ash
- Microbial impurities
- Pesticides
- Heavy metals
- Mycotoxins
For concentrates and compounded products, you wouldn’t necessarily test for moisture content or pesticides, but can additionally test for
- Residual solvents
- Density (on liquid samples)

Sending my sample
Our laboratory is Unit 2 in Kings Landing Business Park, 98 Bath Street, Montagu, 6720, Western Cape.
Use reliable packaging. Place each sample in a separate, sealed container. Ensure liquids cannot leak and packaging cannot break.
Mark each sample with the unique sample reference you specified in the booking process. This goes onto the COA so you know which COA belongs to which sample. It also helps us know which tests to perform on which sample.
Ensure the package is clearly marked with your order number. You will receive the order number in your confirmation email and can also look it up on your orders page.
We can recommend SA Wine Delivery Service (email sawine123@yahoo.com or phone 021 981 4025 or 083 676 2271). While we receive great service and daily delivery from The Courier Guy (including PUDO), their official policy is not to transport Cannabis flower.
Note that using a courier to send your sample(s) is at your own risk.
Cannabis oils (depending on the carrier) are generally quite temperature-stable in ambient conditions.
If your sample is temperature-sensitive, you will have to ensure it arrives via a temperature-controlled courier service. Please specify any temperature requirements for the laboratory when booking your test.
My results
All the instruments, reference materials and equipment used in a laboratory have an acceptable level of uncertainty.
Taking into account the reference standards, measuring equipment and process, our method has a 4% uncertainty.
Where results exceed 100%, there has been a tiny bit of an over-recovery. That is why there should always be a theoretical value (e.g. 100% CBD) and a range in which the results are deemed acceptable (e.g. it could be between 90 – 110%).
A 5 – 10% range usually applies in the pharmaceutical industry.
